HI Nick, having a trial period does have some benefits, however we'd like to be able to provide our contributors and advertisers with coupons for a free edition - or free subscription. For our latest edition that's about 50 individual participants – and perhaps their friends/clients/families as well. If the edition has a cover price, and we make it free for, say, 7 days, then they only have access for those 7 days - after that the access is closed. 7 days isn't really a long time when you have 25 articles to read! On the other hand, 7 days is probably too long if it's geared to a regular reader's month by month contract or one-off purchase at $2.99.

Our current solution is to give everyone a 14 day free period then it's back to the cover price. It's a trade-off between getting some sales, and building up a distribution; the coupons would work much better in this regard.

Also – importantly – coupons have a greater status. Giving an advertiser a bunch of coupons as a bonus for their custom is way better than telling them to jump in the queue and get 14 days free – just like every other Tom, Dick and Harry can get.

Coupons are very widely used across all manner of payment gateways; they have the advantage of being well accepted and understood. Even better is when coupons are trackable, so you can see the kind of response/following each user has got. We sometimes make decisions about whom to include in the magazine, based on interaction, and the consequent increase in distribution. Coupons are another tool for working this out.

Today it's possible to setup a subscription with a free trial period (https://help.magloft.com/en/articles/5373663-how-to-set-up-subscriptions-in-universal-app). It's also possible to lock content behind a name + email opt-in form. I know these don't exactly offer coupons, but would you be able to explain a use case in a little more detail please?
